FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Question: We constantly need to re-train our employees to use, maintain, or repair equipment.
Training and re-training is expensive. How do I get it to stick?
- Answer: The best way to learn is to consistently "do" it the "right" way, over and over
again. The old adage that practice makes perfect is dead wrong. Practice makes permanent... so
practice right! I learned that little bit of information at FranklinCovey many years ago when I was
doing standup training. It stuck! Easily upgradeable eLearning programs provide consistency and the
opportunity to relearn as often as needed. The fact is... people forget. Learning is reinforced
by creating a memorable impression repetitively fixed in a person's mind, or by allowing them to
suffer the consequences or rewards of their choices.
- Question: Many of our supervisors are top-notch people but they are not teachers, and each
sees things a little differently. They also differ in what they think is important for a new employee
to learn. How can we best utilize their experience and still deliver consistent learning?
- Answer: It is important to find out what companies want their employees to learn, gather that
information from their subject-matter experts, and then create training programs that consistently
help their employees gain the kind of knowledge that increases their confidence and productivity.
- Question: Our software is sophisticated and powerful. How do we get our clients up-to-speed
on our software so they feel good about us and their investment?
- Answer: There is nothing more frustrating to your clients than buying powerful software
programs with all the bells and whistles and then later finding out that the learning curve is
horrendous. The saleman's demo made it look so simple! It is critical to get your clients to some
degree of functionality so they can to "do" something with your software and see some results now!
Computer-based, hands-on, simulated eLearning allows your clients to do the exercises over and over
again until they reach a comfort level and can jump into the real program. And... you've created
another stream of revenues.
- Question: Is there a cost effective way to update our training so we are current with
government requirements?
- Answer: Our training programs are purposely designed with an open architecture so frequent
updating is simplified and cost effective. Yes, we make a little less on repeat business, but if we
don't take good care of our customers, why should they come back?
- Question: When a valuable experienced employee retires or moves along to another company,
we feel a real loss. We have other really good people with great potential, but they just don't have
the experience! Is there an affordable way to capture that valuable knowledge and experience before
it walks out the door?
- Answer: One of the things we do best is to get information out of people. Almost sounds
clandestine, doesn't it! We help your subject-matter experts re-discover the basics, and then re-create
as much of that knowledge and experience that is realistic and affordable in a training program for new
or less-experienced employees. It's like driving a car. You don't think about turning the key,
depressing the clutch or putting it in drive; you just get in the car and go! You turned the simple
mechanics over to your subconscious long ago. The research and discovery phase, before we begin actual
development, is critical in saving big dollars on the end product.
